Sometimes it feels like it is so hard to get anything done. We are so immersed in our routine, little and big items that “have to get done” fill our time. But if we are really honest with ourselves we’ll realize that what we really need to do is to stop making excuses and start getting things done instead.
Everyone’s to-do list looks different:
I don’t exercise because I don’t have time
There is no time to fix lunch at home and bring it to work
I wish I had enough time to get more sleep or to read a book
But, wait a minute. We do have time! In fact, we all have the same exact 24 hours every single day.
The problem is that we become complacent. We make excuses, settle, and adopt habits that create “easy” routines. As a result, we put off doing the things that are more beneficial to our bodies and minds.

Making the Time
I want to blog more than I want to do laundry. That’s for sure!
I want to blog more than I want to keep the house clean.
I want to blog more than I want to go grocery shopping.
But everything has to get done! And it will be done. But in some new terms.
After taking an honest look at my schedule it is clear to me that I do not have much time to blog during the week. However, there are changes that I can do to make time.
It is not always going to be easy, but I am at the point where it is necessary because I really want to become a writer. I have to start somewhere!
What is it that you want to do but think you have no time for? Is it working out? Fixing healthy meals? Spending time with your friends or family? Finding time to relax?
Excuses VS. Priorities
I am writing this post to let you know that if I can do it you can do it too! You can take care of your everyday life and still have time to enjoy those other things we never have time for!
I am married, have two kids, two dogs, a full-time job, a volleyball team I volunteer to coach, and at least eight loads of laundry to take care of every week. I could really say that I have no time for anything else!
But to make blogging happen I had to commit to stop making excuses. Instead, I decided to start setting new priorities around here.
You can do it too! Be realistic and keep it simple.
I don’t really have time to spend on the computer during the week to publish these posts. So, I blog on Sundays.
I keep a notepad on my night table and jot down ideas for my posts before I go to bed. This is relaxing for me.
I used to do laundry and grocery shopping on the seventh day. Now, I have to get it done during the week.
The clothes often get forgotten in the dryer during the week but a quick de-wrinkle cycle takes care of that. To avoid neglecting the laundry I decided to put my kids in charge of it, and so far it is working out quite well!
My volleyball season will be done in a couple of weeks so that will free up some more time that I will be able to invest in my writing.

Feeling Fulfilled
Your priorities have to become permanent items in your daily routine in order for you to find fulfillment in life. I have been working on my new priorities for about a month now.
Among those: I committed to writing this blog, to practice yoga regularly, and to eat a healthier breakfast. The croissants for breakfast have to go!
I am already seeing and feeling the results, being more content because I am taking care of the little things that I always wanted to do.
When you get to take care of your priorities you get a great feeling of satisfaction. Taking care of yourself makes you feel happy and accomplished. You become a more pleasant person. It shows people who you really are!
I told myself for many years that I did not have time to blog. What a lie! Saying “I don’t have time to… (fill in the blank) is the easy, lazy way out. It is an excuse.
Making time for the things we really want to do and enjoy is not easy by any means, it is a huge challenge! But believe me, when I say this, the rewards are worth it!
